AmEx Green, Gold, Platinum Unveil Uber Eats Perk; Gold Adds Uber Cash Benefit

There’s more to Uber than just rides, and starting Oct. 26, 2020, eligible American Express cardholders will get a 12-month test-drive of another Uber offering.

  • 5% off restaurant orders over $15.

  • $0 delivery fee on grocery deliveries over $30 (select markets).

You must enroll by Dec. 31, 2021, and you’ll get up to 12 months of Eats Pass for no charge. Terms apply.

American Express® Gold Card also getting Uber Cash perk …

In addition, starting in early 2021, those who hold the American Express® Gold Card will get up to $120 per year in Uber Cash, which can be used toward Uber Eats or for traditional Uber rides. Terms apply.

Nerd tip: The Platinum Card® from American Express also will continue to offer monthly Uber credits, up to $200 per calendar year. Terms apply.

Those credits will be doled out monthly in $10 increments.

The American Express® Gold Card will continue to earn 4 Membership Rewards points per $1 spent on dining, and those earnings can stack with the $10 monthly Uber credit. Terms apply.

The American Express® Gold Card will retain its other $120 dining credit perk, which is also usable in $10-per-month increments when you pay with your card at select restaurants like Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Shake Shack, Grubhub and more.

… But is ending its airline fee credit in 2022

While the American Express® Gold Card is gaining up to $120 in annual Uber credits, it will lose its annual $100 airline fee statement credit. Currently, that credit can be applied toward incidental airline fees, including for checked bags and seat selection, with one selected qualifying airline (which you can change once a year). Terms apply.

Cardholders will be able to continue to use that credit through Dec. 31, 2021, and then it will be discontinued.
